🚨 PARIS — CS2 · ESPORTS WORLD CUP 2026 OPEN QUALIFIER 🚨

Spirit Esports' CS2 division is taking on its biggest international challenge to date: from 7 to 9 August 2026, the roster travels to Paris to compete offline on LAN at the Esports World Cup 2026 Open Qualifier.

Why this matters

This is not an online qualifier played from a bedroom. The team flies out, the machines sit in one room, and the field runs 128 teams deep — including names like FNATIC, BIG and NRG. On the line: four slots at the Esports World Cup 2026 main event, which opens on 12 August at the Accor Arena in Paris, plus a $100,000 prize pool.

The format is a double-elimination group stage, with the top four teams from each group advancing to single-elimination playoffs. The map pool: Cache, Dust2, Mirage, Inferno, Nuke, Ancient and Anubis.

What's at stake beyond the money

The event carries Valve Ranked status, meaning wins here can earn Valve Regional Standings (VRS) points. That matters over a longer horizon: under ESEA League's current VRS-based structure, teams holding VRS points can receive a more favourable division placement at the start of a season.

One thing worth stating plainly: points come from winning, not from showing up. In a double-elimination bracket, simply surviving deep into the run is itself a result — every series won carries forward. How much is earned depends on opponent strength, and any seeding consequence depends on ESEA's rules for the season in question.
